Teen Girls Art Therapy Group
New Group Forming for Summer 2017!
6:00 - 7:30 pm
Facilitator: Shannon Mekuly, MPS, ATR, LPC
This group is best suited for Teen Girls struggling with depression,
anxiety, low self-esteem, social isolation or school problems.
The Benefits of Art Therapy with Adolescents:
*Self-Discovery* Art therapy offers teens the ability to express
themselves in a safe, nonjudgmental way and the images they create produce
powerful personal metaphors that increase awareness and self-expression.
*Personal Fulfillment* The creation of a tangible image builds confidence
and nurtures feelings of self-worth with the support of the group process.
*Empowerment* Making art allows teens to visually express emotions and
fears that they were never able to articulate through conventional means,
leading to greater control over these feelings.
*Relaxation and Stress Relief* Art therapy is a potent stress reliever and
helps teens cope with depression, anger and anxiety by triggering a sense
of relief and wellbeing through the recognition of subconscious feelings.
Shannon Mekuly is a Licensed Professional Counselor,
